Dog Wisdom and Grief Part 3

Lean Into Grief Then Lean into Life

Hello Adventurers,

Barb once told me a story of when she went bodysurfing.  Catching that first wave was pure magic.  The amazing power of the wave transported her through the water like she was flying, only better. Then something happened.  Suddenly the water surrounded her.  For only a moment, that seemed like forever, the ocean was all-around her, she was disorientated and in that brief moment she felt  she may not survive.  Then she found herself on the beach in about an inch of water.  She survived.

She sat on the beach  and looked out at the beautiful ocean and thought about the whole experience.  The ride on the wave was pure joy and the way the ocean washed over her at the end of the ride was terrifying, if only for a moment. Sitting on the beach she was safe and comfortable and alone. She questioned if the joy of the ride was worth the risk.

Life and love is an extraordinary adventure that comes with the risk of loss.  When you encounter loss, experience the grief, let it wash over you and know that you will survive.  And most importantly, get back in the Adventure and live and love with all your heart and soul.
